Fireworks at Southern Star

Nahar invited me to witness the fireworks to commemorate the official opening of the Southern Star last Friday. Since I already at the library so I didn't bring my tripod. Luckily we found a good spot to capture the moment and there was a fire hydrant nearby so I can use it to support my camera while other hand recording the event using my camcorder.

The show was started about 15 minutes late but it worth a wait.

Mug Cake

What always make us lazy to bake is when we need to dig out everything out of the kitchen cabinet. The mixer, the bowl, the scale and all the ingredients. But there is also an easy way to enjoy our afternoon tea with a little effort.

As I am not good in baking I thought of making some simple cake. It called Mug Cake and it is suitable for busy people but still want to enjoy their afternoon weekend.

But why it called Mug Cake? Because the only thing I need is a mug, table spoon and the ingredients.

mug cakeThe ingredients

mug cake Add all the ingredients..

mug cake Microwave it for 2 minutes

mug cake As it is a simple cake so no fancy decoration or topping.. just enjoy it like that

The Recipe for Mug Cake

2 tablespoons self raising flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Icing sugar for sprinkling on top

Method

You will need a 300ml mug for this recipe

Put the flour in the mug, add the sugar and cocoa and mix well. Crack in the egg and whisk thoroughly. Add the milk and oil, then the vanilla essence. Whisk again.

Put the mug in the microwave and cook on High for 2 minutes. The cake will rise really high out of the mug, but when you stop the microwave it will sink down again, so don't panic!

Allow a minute 'standing time' then eat from the mug or turn out onto a serving plate and dust with icing sugar.

Can't stop talking about food this week. Nothings better then to stuffed my always hungry tummy with mouth watering Mee Ayam from 77 Esteller Juara Indonesia Restaurant. I had a Sushi for my late lunch and I thought it would last up to dinner.. unfortunately my grumbling tummy keep saying that it die for Mee Ayam....

So I rushed to the city and crushed myself with a bowl of noodle.

Harbour Town And Southern Star

I went to Melbourne new attractions, the Southern Star and the Harbour Town. Officially ist open but the Southern Star will only be open to the public next week. 27Aud per person I think. Found few clothing outlets that I am sure I will come back next week. Nice place to hang out with lots of cafe. Easily accessible by tram. What I am looking forward is the Cosco Hypermarket that will open soon. This will rival Aldi by offering a cheap household stuff.

Studying or living in Melbourne would not make you feels strange or missing your favourite food as long as you know where to find. There are halal foods and restaurants almost every corner...

"Kalau ianya senang dicari memang kita rasa tak ada apa pun dengan Apam Balik ni, but oleh kerana ianya bukan senang sebab sometimes tak ada, then every single bite is heaven." Fuhhh sedapnyaaa Apam Balik.......

Snow or Hails?

This morning cold weather (7 degree) brought some hails. I thought it is just a rain but when I look out the window there is small ice pellets all over the road and on the car roof. Even thought it last just for couple of minutes but it shows that the weather is horribly gone wrong. Queensland is facing a severe storm and since last week Melbourne weather is not that engouraging, cloudy, windy and raining.

24K Steps And Geelong

I managed to double up the steps from 10k to beyond 24k! Where I went to? I went to Geelong with Nahar. Geelong is a second biggest city after Melbourne I think.... We took a VLine train from Southern Cross Station. It cost us 12.40AUD return and this is a non peak hours tickets. No time specific for this tickets as you can travel anytime.

Geelong is a beuatiful coastal city with great marina and clean. Geelong people enjoying their free time near the waterfront either fishing, having lunch at the restaurant, or just lying on the beach. Geelong is also a transit city for travellers to Great Ocean Road or even to the southern part of victoria. It strategic location also attract students from all over the globe since Deaken University campus located just near the waterfront. And the most important this is Geelong is accessable by road and railway line. It took around 50 minutes to Geelong from Melbourne.
