This is just a simple topic that also reflect me as a consumer. Does Malaysian really use their rights when dealing with the increase in cost of living. Does Malaysian as a consumer is actually the main driven to the hike of all consumer goods? Does the price of goods that currently we have really reflect the actual prices that supposedly we get?
Another question is does Malaysian still enjoying the lowest petrol, foods and other goods compare to other country? Is it acceptable to compare our cost of living by converting our currency to other currency? Does it fair to compare dollar to dollar instead converting it?
What about this issues that we as Malaysian always talk loud about?
1. The increase of petrol price?
2. The increase of food produce?
3. The highly expensive price of branded item?
All the above is to name few....
My main concern is not why this price increase but rather then what do we as a consumer do when all those price rocketing. Let me take one issue of the price of chicken which increase because the farmers says that the cost of breeding the chicken increase and so on.
I remember at that time FOMCA asked the consumer to boycott from buying a chicken just for a day or something and I think it doesn't received any support form the consumer. I watched the news of one mother saying that how could I she do that as her kids would not eat if there was no chicken. Think about it does this is our consumer mentality in Malaysia? Mati ke anak kita kalau tak makan ayam sehari? Salah siapakah kalau anak kita hanya tau makan ayam tapi tak tau makan ikan or daging or yang lainnya? Salah penjual ayam ke kalau depa increased the chicken price sebab depa tau sah-sah akan ada tetap orang beli ayam sebab pengguna kat Malaysia tidak akan sesekali boycott ayam?
Another issue is when the price increased, do you think that rich people who earn probably a million a day care about the price hike? Does it significantly effect them? Let say if the middle class and lower class people boycotting the chicken, do you think this group of people will do the same? Think about it..
So itu hanya isu ayam, belum lagi isu harga barangan lain seperti tepung, beras, pakaian, kereta dan lain-lain.
Now let say kita tengok persoalan ni? What happen kalau one day just for one day consumer tak makan ayam? Nobody ke market beli ayam, nobody makan ayam kat KFC and other fast food restaurant, even restaurant owner tak beli ayam and not serve chicken for just a day? Let us sit and think a while does consumer really have a power to change....
And lastly, let us think as a consumer, are we the main reason why the price of goods are increasing tremendously? If not why is it and if yes why we as a consumer never use our rights and our power to stop it? Kita salahkan kerajaan ker kalau barang keperluan naik atau kita salahkan diri kita sendiri sebagai pengguna?
How much your money worth nowday?
