How To Create Shallow DOF Effect?

Sometimes we see how beautiful the DOF (Depth of Field) of certain photos and wondering how it been done. There are two ways to do it. Either you have a wide aperture lens or macro lens or most of people will cheat a bit by using post processing process.

If your camera lens aperture f stop is around f4.0 and above you won't be able to create shallow DOF. I never use this technique as usually I use wider aperture or macro capable lens to create that, but if you don't have that  type of lens, then watch the video below how to do it. I created a screen recording how some people relying on image editing to achieve shallow DOF effect. Ahaaa..

Before and after.. watch the screen recording below and give it a try

Enjoy! From time to time I will post an entry of how to make your photos better and better each time. This is going to be my new column and I will post one tip every week. Next entry will be how to add a punch on your dull photo.
