Close Up Encounters - Fern Series

This is my next series of macro shooting. Something that I fond with. Getting the angle and shot right even more difficult when the object is close to the lens. Getting the 1:1 view is not easy. All the macro shot that I take only using my standard 35mm f3.5 macro lens. This is the cheapest macro lens available. The good thing is, it still give me a good macro shot with acceptable bokeh.

The only thing that missing from this technique is, there is no tripod. Shooting macro like this need a good tripod but I am lazy to carry the tripod around, so I make use of my bare hand.

I think my next assignment is to do a macro shot of small species of frog, ladybird, bees, or any small bugs. The challenge is to get close to them.

KFC And Makan-Makan

Had a birthday makan-makan at KFC and invited few friends who I confident that they will be on time...otherwise the makan-makan would became supper lah kan....

Earlier I met Nahar and we went to Smith St. Then we headed to Flemington.. took a Craigeburn train and stopped at Newmarket station where Nahar live. Straight to KFC and the rest came in few minutes later....

At first I am thinking of having makan-makan like before.. invite everyone.. but it was not possible this time. I am so concern about the punctuality... Being in a very tight schedule I can't afford to invite people who never concern about the time management. So daripada I throw makan-makan tapi tak ikhlas sebab tak puas hati.. then I decided just to invite few people who really appreciate my punctuality principle.

We had a good time as everyone satisfied with the meal.

Gerbera From My Perspective

Sometimes looking at thing from different perspective bring a new whole meaning of how beautiful certain nature can be. This is one of my few series of looking at nature from a macro view. Looking at thing from a normal perspective can be boring but seeing it very close, it reveal that nature have their own secret. The texture, the shape, the color all gives us an abstract view that we never thought before.

So next time when you see or buy Gerbera, try to look closely and see the secret beauty it has.

Birthday Present From Friend

My birthday was not boring after all. I knew someone will remember.. he hee... received a called from Raiden Keiji and he asked me to meet him in the city. Every year on my birthday he will never forget to give me something... Raiden used to work in Malaysia and he can speak a little bit of Bahasa Melayu.

The leather is kind of unique.. it look like untreated leather.. but the unique feature that I like is the rubber band... I saw this kind of wallet too at Fossil

While on my way back from the city I went to Mayer to check for a new Dunhill Black, but in the end I ended up with Joop! Thrill.. Cair dengan pujuk rayu sales girl nih... Dulu my perception about Joop! memang tak tahan bau dia yang kuat dan semacam. But Joop! Thrill ni bau dia memang bagus... a bit sweet.

The Formula One fever has started. In conjunction with the beginning of long weekend race, some street performer take an opportunity to show their talent. Melbourne is very busy this week and it seems that Summer is not totally gone too. The weather is still consider warm but the breezy wind started to blow from the south.

And for me, I am very happy too this week because I managed to process my data earlier then I expected. My meeting with my supervisor was great. Thats why I am smiling all day. On top of that, I receieved a birthday pressie from my Japanese friend Raiden Seiji.

I Born In This Day

Born in March 24th mean I am an Ariean. But this time it didn't fall on Friday as I born on Friday the 24th March (8 Safar in Islamic Calendar).... As usual when the birthday comes there is no celebration.. I prefer the day passed by with only one hope....may God bless me with good health, wealth and success in my study.

Usually the only thing that I do on my birthday is giving myself a small treat For today's birthday, I bought myself a new watch. Ahhhh.. another watch?... I lost count how many watches I already have. But this is probably my first digital watch since my last Casio 20 years ago.

This might be good for daily use....

An Objects Around The House

Eventhough today is Sunday, I didn't go anywhere... I just spent the time at home... I think I'm more comfortable just stay put. Some more I haven't finish processing my data that I collected. I need to produce few output before I meet my Supervisor again this Wednesday.

I used to study hard before but now, I am not be able to do that again. I guess the age factor does slow me down. Anyway, to kill the time while walking around in the house, I did few macro shots. I thought that an everyday object would look nice to be photograph... So I took few stationaries that I have. The result was not bad at all....

Flower Of The Day

Not sure what it called, I captured this beautiful flower in the late evening the other day. The flower look like a small basket so I called it Bunga Bakul. It come with a different shade based on it maturity. At the young stage all the flower will be in green then changed to reddish with green based at the mid age. Later all the flower will turned to beautiful bright red with spore stem protruding at the bottom.

This was at middle bloom stage where the tip of the flower started to change to red color

Nasib Si Siput Babi

Escargot atau lebih dikenali sebagai siput babi dikalangan kita. Bercerita tentang siput babi ada cerita menarik sewaktu zaman kecil-kecil dulu. Di kampung ada tetangga yang membela itik yang begitu banyak. Gemuk-gemuk dan sihat itik serta angsanya.

Kalau di kampung saya lah, maybe di kampung lain tak sama ceritanya. Kebanyakkan penduduk yang memelihara itik ni, escargot bukan perkara asing bagi mereka. Percaya kah kalau saya katakan escargot menjadi sebahagian dari diet si itik-itik yang gebu dan montok ni? Jadi setiap pagi penduduk kampung akan pusing keliling kebun untuk mencari si siput babi ni sebagai makanan kepada itik-itik mereka. Jadi berfikir 2 kali kah nak makan itik kampung? hee heee..

Tapi escargot nih bukan saja menjadi makanan kegemaran si itik-itik. Sewaktu di France dulu-dulu, kalau masuk ke restoran salah satu menu utama ialah escargot baked with garlic and cheese. Jadi nampaknya sebahagian dari diet manusia pun siput babi...

Then teringat cerita Bersamamu di TV3 suatu masa dulu bila satu keluarga yang daif hanya memakan siput babi sebagai lauk dek kerana kedaifan mereka. Then bercerita tentang daif.. berapa ramaikah rakyat Malaysia yang begitu daif sebenarnya? Bukankah sistem Zakat dalam Islam itu bertujuan untuk eliminate kedaifan dan kemiskinan?

Luckily tak ada lagi penduduk kampung yang membela itik.. you re lucky this time escargot

Kisah Pokok Jambu Air

Dulu ada 2 pohon pokok jambu yang hidup dengan subur. Sekarang yang tinggal cuma sepohon di belakang rumah The one near the main road had to be sacrificed for the new road. Waktu kecil-kecil pokok jambu ni jadi kawasan permainan la I and kengkawan kampung. Buat pondok atas pokok jambu. Waktu kecil dulu memang aktiviti anak orang kampung ialah buat pondok, main perang, main getah, main guli. Waktu tu mana ada Ninetendo, PS3 ker apa kann... jadi untuk menghilangkan busan di hari minggu maka permainan yang famous ialah main pondok.

Pohon jambu ni waktu dulu memang buahnya besar-besar dan manis but now maybe pokoknya dah tua and maybe older then me. Jadi buahnya tak secantik dulu... partly now tak de siapa nak makan buah dia kecuali burung dan binatang liar. But we still love this pokok jambu around and we would never chopped it off.

Walaupun tak de siapa nak makan sebab sekarang sema makan apple dan orange kan.. one day buah jambu air pasti menjadi buah kegemaran semula....

Mega Mendung

Suasana petang yang mendung di kampung. Waku ni hampir hujan dengan awan kumulus yang semakin menebal dan menjadi hitam. Finally cuaca panas dan berjerubu hilang seketika. Menariknya Tuhan jadikan kitaran alam begitu unik. Tatakala bumi dicemari dengan pelbagai pencemaran dan kekotoran dari kegiatan manusia maupun semulajadi, Tuhan turunkan hujan yang lebat untuk membersihkan segala kekotoran. Udara menjadi segar dan segala makhluk di muka bumi menjadi lebih sihat.

Bila Manusia Memberikan Ekspresi

Lately I love to capture people expression in their best and unique way. Berbekalkan lensa 50-500mm (equivalent 100-1000mm), I am in a hunting mode. My chosen location di sekitar Jonker Walk, Melaka.

I think the challenge is not only in finding the right moment but also handling those 1kg lens barely with hand. From hundreds of shot, these are the most prominent one.

I should bring this lens more often wherever I go.
