It has been a very wet week in Melbourne. It's raining, cold and cloudy, somehow my motivation is still very high at this time. I am nearly to the end of my long and suffering journey. But as I always being me, strolling, walking and enjoying the surrounding never fail my excitement of what the world is. Every day is different day and none of them is the same. I think that what make up the beauty of the world we live in.

Haven't been to Pier A for quite sometimes and I thought I need to see what happen over there. It was a cloudy day with a mild breezed wind. Took few shot of the marina.

This time I attached my Cokin filter using a DIY blue tag. Due to bulbulous front, normal filter holder is impossible.

Direct Factory Outlet or DFO is always the best place to find a good bargain. Basically you can find almost any need in one roof and the price..... unbelievably cheap.

One of the outlet that I never missed to drop by is Fossil Outlet with it hundreds of watch collections and leather goods and I am so surprise that Fossil actually have few more brand under it stables such as RELIC, MW, MW MICHELE, MOBILE WEAR and ZODIAC and also a pursuant to licence agreement to Burberry, Diesel, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Adidas, Callaway Golf, Columbia Sportswear, Michael Michael Kors and Marcs by Marcs Jacobs.

So far I owned few watches from Fossil and this is the latest one. One thing about this outlet is, all watches cost under 50Bucks... and that is a bargain...

Winter without snow

Dreaming of snow in Melbourne. Unfortunately, it never happen. But, the view is still beautiful especially at night and early in the morning.

I am waiting for the right time to capture a beautiful foggy morning this weekend. Since there is no public holiday coming, I am saving some money for my next travel in November.

Winter is not all that bad. Apa yang perlu is to look for something yang boleh dijadikan subject matter. Usually my weekend started with bangun seawal 5 pagi. Cleaning the house, do the laundry then berjalan kaki merayau ke garden before end up makan tengahari. Along the way with my camera in my hand, I akan carilah apa yang patut untuk di jadikan sumber inspirasi. A night before that selalunya, I will make sure all my photography gear dah dalam bag. I don't carry all the lens.... Usually I will carry just 2 or even sometimes 1 and I will work around that lens.

As today, I berpeluang to capture some morning dew and there are beautiful.

I think I know why nobody can't talk about their experience, I am no longer can describe about my study either right now.

Solar Equation

This is one of the installation to mark the beginning of Winter Festival in Melbourne. I think it is very unique and technologically impressive. It is a white ballon with helium hang above the Federation Square with a projector pointing to each site of it. Every day until July at 6.00pm it will be turn on and everyone can witness a real activity of our sun.

Even, if you have iPhone, iPod or iPad you can participate by downloading the apps called Solar Equation and you can control the sun to see all the solar activity on it.

PMA 2010 Digital Life Expo

Went to PMA 2010 Digital Life Expo last weekend. I had a free entrance sticker as I already registered earlier. It was an amazing expo with most of big player in digital imaging was there. Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Lumix, Samsung, Leaf, Hasseblad, Fujifilm, most of the photographic associations, printers, photographers and other retailers.

There are few booth that attract me such as Samsung with it Samsung NX10 Humanoids performing a dance. Samsung showed their latest offerings in digital imaging such as Samsung NX10 and compact camera was on display.

Nikon and Olympus booth was among the best. They had a viewing platform at the top, with their DSLR's and Lenses collections where visitors can try all their available lenses.

Lumix exhibit their latest offering of their Micro Four Third systems G2 and G10 and their lenses including the newly introduced Lumix G 8mm Fisheye. What I am amazed was their latest offering in 3D TV. 3D TV is a big things right now in Australia. Everyone offering some sort of 3D tv's.

The only big company missing from the expo was Sony. I guess they were busy with the World Cup in South Africa. But I managed to play with their new mirrorless interchangeable lens camera yesterday.

Rent a bike is a new initiative to encourage the Melbournean to cycle and explore the city of Melbourne.At the same, it is also to reduce the carbon plus to stay fit.

The only thing is, now is winter and I don't think it would be a good idea to cycle around the city. I think I will try this when Spring is coming.

Nearly there

I felt that I am nearly to the end of my journey, yet it seems that it will never end. Every seconds and minutes, the more I work on it the more complicated it become. I am drained out right now and the weather is not helping either. Winter is in it 3rd day and the temperature is getting colder, strong wind and wet. Something that I am not looking forward to.

What make matter worst, I got cold, mild fever and my design testing still not produce a positive result. Di tambah.... mata ni asyek nak tidurrrrrr jer.... My Optrex refreshing eye drops is my friend right now so do the Loreal Eye Gel.

Need a fresh air, I've been sitting infront of this for more than 24 hours now.

This watch reminds me in my old day when our family bought the first B&W tv. In those days, when there was a disruption this test screen will be aired. At that time I always asked myself what this test screen for and I still amazed till now.

So when I found his watch last year and it was on sales, I just bought it without thinking of a second, and this is actually one of my most favourite watch.

Set up your own wireless hotspot using mobile broadband

When mobile broadband first introduced not long ago, we are given a choice to always connected to the internet whenever we have a GSM connection. The introduction of USB based mobile broadband broaden our capacity to be always connected to the internet and be informed in whatever happen around us.

After a few years, mobile broadband has become a must in our life. Most of us are subscribing to either prepaid or postpaid mobile broadband.

But what happen when you want to be connected to your internet whenever you go and there is no wireless network available but the GSM bandwith is there and your devices does not allow you to connect to your USB modem?

The answer is to create your own wireless mobile broadband that can connect to up to 5 devices at one time. So, the solution is to carry MiFi instead of your USB modem.

MiFi is a new way of connecting yourself to wireless broadband but without a hassle of plug in your USB modem to your devices. MiFi works with UMTS, HSPA, HSDPA, CDMA or WCDMA spectrum giving you a most flexible spectrum band available in your area.

This is basically battery operated wireless modem that relying on a mobile network. The battery last up to 5 hours in a continuos use but it comes with a USB connection kit that can transform this tiny MiFi to normal broadband modem.

Since MiFi has a built in software manager, you don't need to connect to any devices to start using it. They are 3 buttons that need to be activated when you want to use. On button, Wireless button and Connect button.

Just turn on the ON button for 2 seconds, then turn on the Wireless Button for 2 second and lastly turn on the Connect button for 2 seconds. Once all the button is turn on the light indicator on top of the panel will lit up indicating that the MiFi is ready to be use. Go to your devices and locate your wireless connection as normally you do and select the MiFi devices. The MiFi comes with SSID andWEP, WPA's key for security so you can use your wireless to yourself or if you generous enough you can share it with your friends.

Sony NEX3 and Sony NEX5

Sony officially launched it Compact Interchangeable Lens Camera System today with the introduction of NEX3 and NEX5 to compete with Samsung, Panasonic and Olympus in ever growing mirrorless interchangeable lens camera system.

In general Sony managed to squeezed an APS-C sensor to a very small and thin body but with a compromise, such as no onboard flash, no viewfinder, fewer buttons but still come with an indigenous implementation of tilt able LCD screen.

By reducing the flange back Sony managed to reduce the distance between the lens and the sensor flange from 42 to 18mm thus enable a smaller lenses even though it still look big in comparison of Micro Four Third line up.

Earlier review showed that the sensor are capable of producing a clean images up to ISO 3200 in certain conditions. So to anyone who are a big fan of Sony, this camera system will be available somewhere in June.

Seafood Feast

This was once in a blue moon kind of gathering. Nahar, Adam and I decided that we should meet together for dinner and enjoy the mouth watering seafood platter as we did last time. We went to Docklands and indulged ourselves with a multi tiered seafood platter full with crabs, tiger prawns, calamaries, mussels, scallops, balmain bugs, lobsters, bake and fresh oysters, baramundi.

Since Adam is leaving by the end of the month to settle down in Spain, we spent more time that night and we even took time to stroll along the river before we went home.

Somewhere in 1997, my former boss used to collect all those classic watches. Even when he had an opportunity, he will invite me to stroll the Central Market in Phnom Penh hunting for used vintage watches. I think that was where the influence came. I love a real watch or classic watch look and not so much into modern stylish watch that most people wear today.

One of my latest collection is this Emporio Armani Classic series. I love the light gold dial color with roman numbers on it. Classic or vintage watches are always evergreen and the longer you keep the higher the value is going to be.

My favourite bench

I our life, we always have favourite, be it clothing, cars, watches, flowers, places etc. This bench is my favourite short resting place especially after a long walk. Every now and then, I will pass this garden on my way to the city and on the way back, I will sit on this bench for at least half an hour. I like to watch kids playing soccer, neighbourhood nannying their dogs and even just watching and observing people. This is the bench that witness my existence in this foreign land seeking for ever ending knowledge. I think this bench has been a good place for me to rest, re energised my tired feet, place for a quiet and peaceful mind.

Sepia tone

This is a series of photos taken not long ago while doing my routine walking exercise. Usually at this time around, the beautiful colourful autumn foliage can be seen but this year it yet to happen. These photos look dull and uninteresting in it full color, so I decided to add a bit of classic look to it. I think the sepia tone elevate the mood of the photos and brought back the memories of the past.

In 20 years time, I would imagine this place would look different and to come back again to the same spot, take the photo again, do a comparison will be my dream.

Sketching on iPad

One hobby that I never tell people that much is doing rough sketches. I love rough sketches with multiple lines in different thickness. I always carry my sketch book wherever I go besides of carrying my camera.

But, since I have this iPad with me, I found out that Alias Sketch Pro is available on iPad and I bought the Apps for a merely 15bucks. It works just like the desktop version but with a streamline UI. At the moment I am using this sketch Apps with my finger as I haven't got the Pogo Sketch stylus.

Now I don't have to carry my sketch book anymore as I can do lots of rough sketches on my iPad. Besides of that, I can read magazines, eBooks, comics, and lots of things with one device.

I am thinking of iWorks next as I can do word processing, presentation and equation. The more I play with this device the more flexible it become. I hope that Photoshop and Office would deploy their software too.

Halal Food from Western China Province

I found this restaurant while on evening stroll with Nahar along the Swanston St. It caught us by surprise that this restaurant serve Halal dishes and yesterday we decided to have lunch there. At first I am not familiar with the menu but we ordered the Dim Sum and the Smoked beef and lamb noodle.

When the menu arrived, I am confident that it definitely not from the Southern province but more of the northern or western province.

The food was very good and this was the first time I had an opportunity to sample Halal chinese food. The whole shop was very simple, just like any ordinary chinese restaurant back home but the Halal certificate was clearly visible.

Before we left I asked the waiter which province the food from and she replied "Western Province" and that answered my first thought that they are muslim as most of the Chinese Muslim from China are from the western part where it near to the Silk Route and heavily influenced by the Islam.

This is smoked beef and lamb with handmade noodle. Another delicious menu is chicken in a hot chillies with handmade noodle

Modern world, old mentality

Sometimes I am so amazed with our own society.. amazed with their thinking and what behind their thought especially when it come to what they search for in the borderless world of networking such s internet etc.

Even though this is not a scientific evidence that our society is mentally low, but it does show an actual truth of what most of our society love for. I think the works of sex, seks, perempuan, bogel, and all sort of words that we can think of is usually the one that capture their mind more then the such as mind, astrology, mathematics, philosophy, and so on.

I personally can reveal from my flickr analysis, what photos does people interested more. Every day I see that anything about women is the most searchable tag. So it is true what the fact said, women can be an evil or an angel, women can easily go to heaven and hell to. Dan betul tangan seorang perempuan boleh mengegarkan dunia weather it is in a good way or not.

My iPad has arrived and I am setting it up. So far I have no problem as reported by other user where the WiFi connection is fluctuating. What I can tell is, this is very sleek device and the future prospect is huge.. I am loving it.

Considering how old I am it is not that much and some very lucky out there who are younger than me already been to most of the country. But pinned 161 cities in 19 countries is an achievement for me and I plan to pin more cities in the future when the time permit.

I've this dream that before I die, I want to land my feet on all middle east nation, then I love to go to Macedonia, if I can I want to go to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, South America would be nice too and probably middle and north Africa.
